The film which is about a young and an idealist teacher who want to change something. The film which involves the reflections of feminism and functionalism. In this essay I analyze these reflections. Firstly, according to the functionalism, everyone in society has a role and everyone play their role contribute to the smooth functioning of society. Children learn and internalize the norms and expectations which are accepted in a society. In this wise, they adopt sex roles. So,gender roles are compatible with sex.Because there are innate differences. N the movie, the girls who study at the college take courses not only physics and art history but also speech and marriage. Because they will graduate in a few years and they will find a good husband and then they will be housewife. They will have responsibilities such as providing comfort a man and care of children. Because gender roles are innate. Gender roles are learned and internalized with the help of agencies such as family, educational institutions. There are these agencies in this movie.Furthermore, functional approach suggest that gender differences contribute to social stability and integration. Namely, the women should concentrate on domestic and family responsibilities while men work outside the home. There are expressive roles for women and instrumental roles for men. The females should provide care and security of children and offer them emotional support. Men,on the other hand, are the breadwinner in the family. For example,in this movie, the girls are given courses about the importance of expressive roles. But there is a unequal division of labor within the Emily. Functionalism believes that this state is necessary for the maintenance of social stability. There are examples of giving importance of this necessity in the movie. Divorce is seen a bad state by people in that society and the mother don't accept her daughter who want to back home. Functionalists emphasize the importance of moral consensus which exis t when most people in a society share the same values and it is important to maintain order for them. In the movie, there is a order and balance in the society.Because there are rules, arrangements, traditions and values which interlink the people. In this way,the moral consensus exist in a society. For instance, there are traditional competitions which are about marriage having a baby in college. Secondly, feminist approaches reject the idea that gender inequality IA natural. Feminism is based on women's freedom. The women should not be representative of their gender roles which are given them in innate. Instead, they should live by their own definition. In the movie, the teacher is defender of feminism. Her opinion is that her students should be more free when they take their own decisions. She provide that the students discuss on the subject in the class. In the way, their ideas will occur and they will not copy other people's opinion. Also, feminist approach emphasizes that there must be equal opportunity between women and men. For example, the range of education. The teacher encourage the student in studying law. To sum up,it is possible to see that the reflections of functionalism and feminism in the movie. Essay on Mona Lisa smile By kickball

Assignment 7 Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Assignment 7 - Research Paper Example Additionally, the continued monitoring of care will aid the medical practitioner in understanding where to start and in checking whether the improvements are sustained. Along the course of the fall prevention program, the medical practitioner will need to evaluate the fall rates taking place at the hospital as well as the effectiveness of the fall prevention strategy. The quality improvement model should entail the regular monitoring of the medical outcomes of the hospital; the indicator is the number of falls per 1000 patient bed days. The second area to be monitored is the care processes implemented; the indicators to be captured include the factors fueling fall risks and the actions taken to reduce a patientââ¬â¢s risk of falling. The third area to be checked is the infrastructure needed to support the best practices being sought, and the indicators to be captured include the participation of the preventive team in an interdisciplinary fashion (Oldrich, Kalman & Nigolian, 2012). In developing the measures of tracking the variables of fall rates and the effectiveness of fall prevention strategies under implementation, the medical practitioner and the hospital, in general, will need to address two important questions. These questions include 1) which way can enable the parties to measure the rates of falls and fall-related injuries and 2) which way will enable the parties to measure the effectiveness of the fall-prevention strategies implemented? Throughout the process of implementing the fall prevention program, the hospital and the staffs overseeing the fall prevention program will need to check the following outcome areas: Whether incident reports were revised, in a manner that allowed the medical personnel to cover more specific areas in care delivery, particularly the areas that are considered to be factors increasing or

The life of William shakespeare Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
The life of William shakespeare - Research Paper Example Of the five siblings, William had two sisters and three brothers. Edmund Shakespeare, the last born in the Shakespeare family was born when William was in his teenage years, and thatââ¬â¢s when he lost one of his sisters. John Shakespeare later became the mayor of the town in which William was born. Shakespeare never had an extensive education life. At the age of six or seven, William Shakespeare attended the Kingââ¬â¢s new school in Stratford (a school that taught children of prominent citizens) where he leant grammar and got the chance of sharpening his writing skills which laid down the foundation of his career in theater. In his secondary, he studied Latin, literature, rhetoric, logic, and ethics. In his work, there is evidence of Roman comedy, classical mythology and ancient history. This is believed to be his only formal education as there is no evidence to suggest he ever received university training. William might have been withdrawn from the school of grammar due to the increased poverty of his father at the age of thirteen. At that time, his father was a butcher, and William joined him in that business for some time. The business of John Shakespeare had gone from bad to worse, and at the time, William Shakespeare was eighteen, his father was deprived of his mayorship. This happened on 6th of September 1586. Not much is known about the life of William Shakespeare in his youth, but it is evident that at the age of eighteen, he got married to a farmerââ¬â¢s daughter known as Anne Hathaway who was eight years older than him. They married when Anne had Williamââ¬â¢s pregnancy and she gave birth six months later. It is believed that Shakespeare was forced into marriage by the Hathaway family since he wanted to marry one Anne Whateley who was already married to Wm Shaxpere and that he had previously impregnated Anne Hathaway. William Shakespeare never showed affection to his wife. This is evident because in his first draft of his will,

Tax Aspects of Partnerships Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Tax Aspects of Partnerships - Research Paper Example This paper will explore the various dimensions of taxation as applied to partnerships in the United States. The material in this paper is not intended as a treatise but rather as a brief explanation of the matter only. The major rules dealing with taxation in partnerships are enshrined in the United States Internal Revenue Code under Chapter 1, sub Chapter K. However, the application of K-1 rules is subservient to declarations of partnership under Form 1065 that documents the various transactions of the partnership entity4. The aim of the method is to ensure that the declarations of income and transaction presented by the entity in question are verifiable against the partnersââ¬â¢ declarations. Individually, the partners are provided with K-1 schedules that they need to fill out on their own to report their personal income levels. However, this is far easier said than done since the partners may be involved in more than one entity and it may not be simple to segregate incomes from various entities among other problems. The first step in calculating applicable taxes is to measure the income attributable to the overall partnership5 and then for this income to be segregated as per the various partners. The share of each partner in the entityââ¬â¢s income or loss is determined in accordance with the partnership agreement6. Once a partnership agreement has been drafted, the independent character of the partners is considered as overruled such as in Bellis v. United States7. In case that the partnership agreement fails to provide for a distribution, then the partnerââ¬â¢s share is determined by the partnerââ¬â¢s partnership interest in the entity8. Additionally, partnership interest for any partner may be calculated using capital accounts of the respective partner9. When dealing with partnership income measurement, certain income sources need to be treated separately in order to arrive at individual partner income. Exclusions from collective income may oc cur in areas such as charitable contributions, foreign tax payments etc. which in general are personal concerns of the involved partners. In contrast, if charitable spending is done from the platform of the partnership using individual contributions of partners, the spending is not considered to be deductible from taxation. The recent decision on Dunlap et al. v. Commissioner10 makes it clear that any charitable donations from a partnership platform, even if executed by individual partners, must be considered an act of the partnership. However, foreign income derived from partnerships such as through controlled foreign corporations is still subject to tax such as explained in Brown Group Inc. v. Commissioner11. The basic contention is to separate partner income from partnership income. Although a list of items is available that may be subject to exclusion but guidelines remain unclear and open to differing interpretations. This in turn tends to complicate the separation of income it ems to be used for income measurement. It may not always be possible to separate such sources of income and loss as expounded in the recent decision of Whitehouse Hotel Limited Partnership v. Commissioner12 where the partnership was unable to classify its income sources properly under law. Another aspect is items that are not liable to deductions as long as they

A paper on a material object during the medieval period Essay
A paper on a material object during the medieval period - Essay Example However for the bulk of this period the availability of the Holy Bible as a material object was restricted for practical as well as theological reasons.1 During the medieval period access to the Holy Bible, as a material object was in fact restricted due to various intentional and unintentional factors. Books of any description were generally very expensive material objects throughout the medieval period taken as a whole.2 The high cost of books put all but the wealthiest people off buying them in the first place. Books were highly expensive because of the methods used to produce them, paper and parchment was costly to make, meaning that writing errors and mistakes were often just crossed out, or even ignored completely.3 The Holy Bible during the majority of the medieval period was hand written as the Chinese invention of the movable printing press took a long time to reach Europe (not doing so until the late fifteenth century).4 Therefore the production of the Holy Bible was slow as well as painstaking if done properly. Then again it could take just as long to produce copies of the Holy Bible, which were riddled with mistakes, and inaccurate wording.5 Indeed it frequently took days for people usually monks to write out new copies of the Holy Bible in full by hand. There was not a high demand for new copies of the Holy Bible due to the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches wanting to control who actually read the gospel, as well as they interpreted the content of the gospel.6 The Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern orthodox churches were particularly keen on restricting access to the Holy Bible to those it trusted. In other words theyââ¬â¢re own clergy, monks, nuns, and the wealthier citizens within European societies. For the majority of the medieval period it was only the clergy and the members of the religious orders that were predominantly literate, although the male

French Favorites For Woodwind Trio Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
French Favorites For Woodwind Trio - Essay Example The concert was attended by large crowd of classical music lovers and the fans of the ââ¬ËFrench Favorites for Woodwind Trio (Keith par 1).ââ¬â¢ Upon entering the hall, I was mesmerized by its attractiveness. First, the hall is well designed such that the stage can be viewed from any place in the hall. Then, the decorations of the hall, that consisted of flashing disco lights and spelt classical music. Since I was late, I had to wedge my way through the crowd, which consisted mainly of familiar college mates, although with speckles of excited lecturers here and there. I even obtained a giggle from my music teacher who had settled at the fore spaces. I finally got a spacious position at the back place, where I could jig and dance my worry of life outside the hall off. Well, I hastily obtained a dancing partner, my classmate who also had found a position at the back. The master of ceremony was this kind of gentle men that are comedians by nature. From the point of his ushering in the concertââ¬â¢s audience, to his introduction of the performers, the audience could not help but laugh. He made the concert very lively. At the point where he pronounced the names of the ââ¬ËFrench favorite favorites for Woodwind trioââ¬â¢, they received a deafening applause from the crowd. Then, chattering followed as the faces of the audience registered excitement with anticipation. Soon the theatre was grave silent again, and the beats of ââ¬ËSuite Breve en Trioââ¬â¢ started to engulf the stage like a wave coming from very far off the horizons. Although so soft and from an old age origin (1905-1991), this music had the power of sweeping off from my feet, and for a moment, I was floating in the air with ecstasy. Oh my! The power of classical music, I did not even realize it as the guest performers entered the stage. I became conscious of them only after the beats faded and then the sound of the English horn in the
